Kingz v Glory

Auckland Kingz v Perth Glory

Warmed up by two appearances off the bench for the All-Whites, a start by Mark Elrick was enough to give the international his first goal - a 30 yard strike in the 40th minute to give the Kingz first blood in their clash against Perth Glory tonight.

This was punishment by a 36th minute dismissal of defender Hamilton Thorpe for a second yellow card (answering back) following a fracas. However, the Kingz then went to sleep and it only allowed Perth's Troy Halpin to equalise despite being reduced to ten players.

This brought the half-time score to 1-1.

But within ten minutes of the restart, midfielder Dino Minnello struck home from the edge of penalty area to put Kingz back into the lead, making the score 2-1.

Despite the Kingz scoring twice, Boutsianis managed to hit the woodwork with Utting beaten, and then a harmless looking ball still managed to come off the crossbar.

Meantime. Stergiopoulos was booked for diving when he appeared to be up-ended in the box.

Minnello then scored his second, before Boutsianis getting his second yellow card towards the end of the game, leaving the Kingz 4-1 winners, with Aaron Silva scoring after several players missed - and three important points in the chase for a top six.
