In response to the comment ["Sobzcyk kept Trimboli quiet all night, and was deserving of his MOM award."]
Your kiddin' right?? Jack spent the whole night kicking the shit out of Trimboli - and what did Micallef do?? Give South 5 yellows and a red on the way (for dissent). Now if you can be bothered to view the video tape of the game, you will see that every single decision contested by the South players, was one in which the referee or the stupid linesmen gave the wrong decision.
The corner conceded incident close to Iosfidis' sending off - was not a corner - Blatsis played the ball off the Spirit player. This was just moments after another thrown in went the Spirit way - when clearly it was a South Melbourne ball. The referees are bad - but the linesmen are f**king worse - not one of them understands the offside rule, they interfere in the game when not neccessary and they are, like their friends in the middle, totally inconsistent.
Example - langdon attacking, goes at Goutzoulis, runs into him, ref calls free kick on edge of the area for Spirit minutes later goutzoulis attacking, goes at someone, runs into him, ref calls free kick on the edge of the area for Spirit (both players dived)
As for man of the match - George Goutzoulis - was by far the most enterprising of ALL the players that were on display last night. Kept the great white hope Langdon to little more than a sniff and a dive (well actually a shit close range header from 3 yards that he proceeded to put into the Bob Stand) - and was running all game even up to the 93rd minute.
Still Spirit's criteria for MOM awards may be different to that of soccer fans.
