Match commentator Andy Harper certainly got it right when he said the defending in this game was farcial! Had the defenders all been wearing clown suits they would have fitted into the ocassion quite nicely.
Strikers forwards were nothing short of woeful in front of goal having 13 attempts on goal in the first half, although it has to be said Michael Utting had a game to remember. Every thing went right for him, even the last minute piece of showmanship which could have resulted in a Strikers goal. Fernando Rech was close a couple of times and he was the obvious danger for the Kingz. Him and Almendra are class acts. Rech's needless expulsion from the game for a silly yellow card (blame the ref) certainly didn't help the home side.
Sportsmanship was obviously lacking in this game too. The Kingz were incensed when Brisbane actually attacked rather than kick the ball back to the Kingz following the visitors playing the ball out for a Strikers player who was injured. Piss poor form. Maybe the Kingz need to take on this Aussie tactic and harden up. If this is going to become a regular feature then we don't want to be taken advantage of. What is sportsmanship these days anyway?
The mid-match punch up was mildly amusing but the scenes at the end of the game were appalling. The Strikers officials were a disgrace trying to have a go at Almendra. You see this sort of shit in South American football...it shouldn't happen here. Pity the camera's didn't stick with the pushing and shoving and verbals as it would have been terrific entertainment but bad publicity for the game.
Oh, and the football....well Harry Ngata's opening goal in the 26th minute was well worked and Pato Almendra's game killer was a piece of good work and just reward for the 2nd best player on the park.
MVP goes to Utts for a fabulous display Kingz defence looked like they had been on the piss all day - shockers. 2-0 and the Kingz first win in Brisbane. Nice to see Bloc 5 represented over there too;-)
Hope you all took my Kingz/Kingz HT/FT tip that I gave you this morning.
Off to bed a happy man. All I need to wake up to now is the Canaries winning away at Burnley and she'll have been a bonza weekend.
