1994-95 Season Round 11 Matches
Round 11 of the Australian NSL championship (games played 30/12-2/1)
Melbourne Knights 1 - Sydney Olympic 2
(Mark Silic 36) (Brad Maloney 35, 84)
MK : Frank Juric, Horvat, De Amicis, Buljubasic, D Cervinski, Silic, Tiatto,
Biskic, Lapsansky, Pondeljak (Spiteri 61), Viduka
SO : Gibson, Spyridakos, Ante Juric, Sorras, Lee, Augerinos (Tome 80),
Maloney, Tsekenis, Milosevic, Meredith, Bacak
[Well Olympic pull one of their giant-killing acts which gives them a bit of
momentum to reach the top 6, the KNights on the other hand are finding the
going a little tough lately.]
South Melbourne 2 - Marconi-Fairfield 0
(Ivan Kelic 50)
(Con Boutsianis 91)
SM : Mautone, Davidson, Valkanis, Kuzmanovic, Muscat, Boutsianis, Polak,
Petersen, Awaritefe, Kelic, Trimboli
MF : Pogliacomi, Casserly, Dee, DeMarigny, Bingley, Smith, Ortiz (Soper 61),
Talay, Corica, Harper, Taliadoros
[If the Melbourne side had been in their usual high position on the table
I might not feel so aggrieved at seeing Marconi lose, on the other hand
Marconi themselves are in the wrong place on the ladder and in effect
this match is more or less meaningless, though neither side seem to have
noticed this. Note that Alex Kuzmanovic has transferred from Heidelberg.]
Brisbane Strikers 1 - Adelaide City 1
(Chris Slater 79) (Damien Mori 27)
(Brisbane win 4-2 on penalties)
BS : Bolton, Jackson, Hunter, Stowell, Evans (Williams 75), Zoricich, Wright,
Phillips (Slater 77), T Cranney, Brown, S Cranney
AC : Petkovic, Ivanovic, Yates, Tobin, Lozanovski, Talladira (Gibson 88),
Melta, Mullen, Foster, Hassell, Mori
[Adelaide City let an enthusiastic Brisbane side get away with the extra point
perhaps the new goalkeeper has a few things to learn about penalties which
his predecessor, Robert Zabica, may have known about. Young Clint Bolton on
the other hand managed to score himself a custodial role in the Australian
Olympic team to play against Denmark, Japan and Korea.]
Parramatta Eagles 1 - Heidelberg United 2
(Geoff Gunning 55) (Danny Gnjidic 63, 75)
PE : Franken, Gwynne, Orlic, Renaud, Mendez, Moffitt, Gilbert (Reda 35),
Brayshaw (Falzon 65), Ciantar, Sprod, Gunning
HU : Miller, Koutos, Watson, Scott, Georgiadis, Tsolakis, Ardone, MacNicol,
Vasiliadis (Isofidis 69), Vlahos, Gnjidic
[The Bergers are a funny team, just when you think that they'd struggle
in the PSSF U10's league they actually put together a goodish performance
and win. Naturally this upsets me greatly :-).]
West Adelaide 2 - Morwell Falcons 3
(Robbie Hooker 69 pk) (Lachlan Armstrong 24)
(Ayrton Andrioli ??) (Ernie Tapai 33)
(George 'Oh no' Haniotis 78 og)
WA : Blazincic, Hooker, Haniotis, Slager, Kokkinoplitis, Lazaridis, Andrioli,
Slifkas (Brazzale 46), Alagich, Iriarte, Cardozo
MF : Dastey, Douglas, Upton, Canosa, Parton, Marcina (Ferreira 83), Sevin,
Tapai, Bothwell, Spink, Armstrong (Markovski 68)
[The Sharks are one of those teams where you wonder whether they are just
lucky and bad or unlucky and good. They never really seem consistent though.
Still the Falcons are an excellent side with an unnatural urge to play
penalty shootouts (this is only their 3rd non shootout game this season).]
Sydney United 2 - Melbourne SC 0
(David Zdrilic 40)
(Shaun Babic 91)
SU : Kalac, Stanton, Kupresak, M Babic, Naumovski (Petkovic 67),
Popovic, Hristodoulou, Rudan, Bilokapic, Milicic (S Babic 62), Zdrilic
MZ : Kourtis, Della Rocca, Kuleski, Banini, Jolevski (Tricarico 82),
Trajkovski, Emmanuelle (Enes 63), Karkaletsis, Trajcevski, Zinni,
Lazarevski
[It looks increasingly that coach Branko Culina has found what he needs
from his Sydney United players and that their finals prospects look the
best of any of the Sydney sides. On the other hand there are many more
challenging teams than Melbourne SC..about 10.]
