In front of a surprising healthy contingient of 5000+(?) AdCity were
flattered in scoring 6 with no reply by Cosmos. You've probably seen the
SBS reply by now. Musa was correct in saying that "AdCity only had 6
chances and took them all". Remarkably the corner count went Cosmos way
about 10-3!
AdCity did deserve to win. Cosmos were really stagnant in front of goal. I
mean, it deserves some credit that Cosmos got a barrage of corners,
throw-ins and crosses (esp. in 2nd half) but the ease at which Petkovic
generally got to these balls typified an overall unimaginative style of play
by Cosmos. Best for Cosmos?? Probably Musa, Castro and N.Popa. But no
obvious stand-outs.
Did we miss Wadey? Probably. But as I say, we managed to get the ball near
the AdCity goal often enough without him.
I was disappointed to see Armstrong unneccessarily imbed his studs into
Ivanovic with Milan lying helplessly on the ground at the time.
Everyone at Hindmarsh was mystified to see the Cosmos 'goal' disallowed (1st
half) but after seeing the SBS replay it seems Dunn(?) did handball. :(
All 6 AdCity's goals were gems. Mori's 1st may have been offside. But
Hassell's last minute classic just summed the whole night - a beautiful
goal, coming from a counter-attack, after Cosmos had been in AdCity's half
for the previous several minutes.
I still wore my Cosmos shirt (and waved my orange/blue/white flag) with
pride! AdCity supporters were generally friendly to what must have seemed a
quirky novelty - a solitary away supporter!! :)
Oh well, I wonder who will be manning the Cosmos next time I get to see them
play? (late this year I guess). I have faith in most of our younger
players, so I hope they're all still in the team next season.
