Wollongong v Carlton

Round 13 Match report by Riccardo Fabio Biondini
Wollongong City v Carlton

Good win for the Wolves in front of 6200 at Brandon Park. Perinich made it 1-0 with a simple tap-in after the keeper could only tap the ball away. The seond goal came from a penalty when the attacker was hacked down whilst running in on goal. A few minutes before the referee missed a blatant handball by Collosimo in his penalty area. Surjan converted the spot-kick and it was 2-0.

The third came from Ceccoli before the interval when he was left unmarked in the area from a corner and headed the ball in. Carlton then had a player sent off and in the second half were lucky to not concede a few more when the Wolves hit the post a few times and also Anastasiadis saved the Victorians a few times.

Carlton got the consolation when Brodbeck stuffed up again on a corner (like last week vs SydUtd) and Stergiopolous put the ball into a vacant net. The win keeps the Wolves in the six but we all know what happened last year after the halfway mark. With big matches left at home against teams like Perth, SydUtd, Olympic, South Melbourne, Adelaide City and to a lesser extent, the knights, the Wolves could get more attendeces at home than every other team bar Perth and South Mel. (and we don't lie about the crowds). last week at Parra Stadium they must have been counting legs and arms. As for the Victorians, well Carlton just had a bad day. I for one hope they can bounce back from this loss and go well. Same for Adelaide City who were roasted vs. South M.
