Olympic v Glory

Round 11 report by Greg Stock
Sydney Olympic v Perth Glory

Glory lost Despotovski and Naven (?) to red cards after being 1-0 up at half-time thanks to Jonesy capitalising on an Ante Juric defensive stuff-up. At half-time Kalantzis was replaced by Gonzelez and the game seemingly changed complexion.

In the second half Perth sat back seemingly content with their one goal advantage and suffered when Despotovski handled the ball in the area and was awarded his second yellow for an early shower. Cardozo put the ball past Milosevic who incidentally had a few objects thrown at him by the Ol-ym-pic fans behind the goal (good one).

Culina then switched his 'trump' Juric up front to partner Cardozo and it paid results when a long ball hit 'Big Lurch' on the chest in the box and he slotted it away truely. The icing was on the cake when Naven (?) made a crude challenge on Tsekenis (?) and got himself a second yellow card. Olympic found the net again right on the final whistle and it was all over 3-1.

Mark Shields the referee had a terribly ordinary game. A number of cards were dished out, including one to Jason Culina for time wasting as he walked from the field when he was subbed. A few decisions seemed ordinary and he earnt the ire of the Ol-ym-pic fans on quite a few occassions.

A crowd of 6,889 also saw the club honour its past NSL legends including guys like Raskopoulos, Meier, Katholos and Koussos.
