Can't tell you who scored. The PA system at Marconi was so bad I couldn't even tell who the Australian players were -- even when I knew their names. The new stand looks nice, though.
Pretty very disappointing.
Australia looked much more capable and confident in the first half. Spreading the ball around the park, keeping possession. But China outshot us 10-1. We were offside a lot, but! Three times in the first eight minutes.
I was impressed by Hayden Foxe. Except he got a bit too cocky sometimes.
China were shooting from anywhere and didn't really threaten.
Emerton was trying -- running all over the park at the beginning -- but struggling until the end of the second half when he was winning down the right and getting his crosses in. The Olyroos looked most threatening then.
Emerton had the best chance right before the end, hitting the crossbar after meeting a corner with a far post header.
Another of our guys looked like he had a chance but was stuck with the ball at his feet and his back to goal.
China's keeper was brave and strong, coming out for the ball. His backs were pretty good in the air, too.
The Olyroos were doing the build-up attacks. But dissipating. China breaking on counter attacks. That's how they scored. Through ball caught (Garcia?) napping a bit and China's striker got in front and stayed there. With the ball. Shot. Scored. Same thing almost happened from the restart.
Our best (only?) chance in the first half was Culina hitting the side netting. He got himself into good attacking positions a couple of times but couldn't offload to the strikers. Kosta annoyed them a bit. But not really threatening the goal.
Lots of bookings.
The Olyroos should get them back on Friday. If they get some shots in.
I got wet.
PS Our new friend Rozanna wrote in the program: Tell Kosta Salapasidis how proud you are of his achievements when you see the Wollongong Wolves play. She said other stuff as well, but that wasn't as important.
