Australia embarked on a two 'test match' series against the old foe New Zealand. 1958 was only one year after the New South Wales Federation of Soccer Clubs was formed while Australian soccer was undergoing a transitional period boosted by the large number of European migrants who had made Australia home. Any player who was with a Federation club was effectively banned from appearing in an Australian shirt as the Federation and its players were banned from playing under the Australian Soccer Football Association. | ||||
