Adelaide Sensation produced an important 2-1 victory over Northern NSW Pride, gaining in confidence after Jessica Halfpenny converted from the spot on 12 minutes to give them the lead after a handball near goal. Northern started the second half well but Adelaide doubled the lead against the run of play in the 56th minute, Halfpenny with a beautiful chip over the keeper.

Pride pulled one back when captain Amber Neilson finished an Ashley Wilson cross midway through the half, but despite several great chances, could not get past a gutsy Adelaide defence to produce an equaliser. Sensation almost scored a third in the dying minutes, Chichi May curling her freekick against the crossbar.

Queensland Sting stand alone at the top of the ladder, the only team to emerge from the doubleheader round with maximum points.

Queensland outgunned Canberra Eclipse for a comfortable 3-0 win, the experienced Sting outfit dominating from start to finish. Lively midfielder Jamara Maza opened the account in the 37th minute with a classy chip over the keeper from 14 metres.

The Maroons doubled their lead when captain Kim Revell tapped in the loose ball after a Lana Harch shot was saved in the 58th minute. Sting's third came via substitute Lisa Dunne, left to merely touch the ball into goal after the keeper had misjudged the corner kick.

Last year's woodenspooners Victoria Vision scored the upset of the day, almost snatching a late winner against defending champions NSW Sapphires before settling for a draw. Favourites NSW Sapphires took the lead after 13 minutes through a great Heather Garriock drive from the left. But Victoria Vision kept up the fight throughout and were well in the contest for the second half. They equalised with Selin Kuralay's sensational solo goal in the 78th minute but there was more to come.

NSW created three good chances, sub Catherine Cannuli unlucky as her volley on the turn crashed against the left post. But then Vision midfielder Leigh Terek sent their fans into raptures in the first minute of injury time with an amazing 40 metre strike sailing in past the keeper for the underdogs to snatch the 2-1 lead.

But the celebrations were short-lived when, in the very next minute, NSW midfielder Taryn Rockall was fouled in the box. Rockall took the resultant penalty confidently, driving it low beyond the keeper's reach and saving some face for the Sapphires.
