Queensland kicked off the day's play in Canberra with an instant goal after just ten seconds, Alicia Ferguson planting a chip over the keeper from 23 metres out. The goal rivals that of Victorian Leigh Terek in season 1997/98, recorded as being scored in the 9th second of play.

The Sting doubled their lead in the 12th minute, April Mann with a well-executed shot on the turn. Victoria's Selin Kuralay was unlucky not to pull one back three minutes later, but then the match turned into a rather lacklustre affair. Queensland snatched their third in the final seconds of play, Kim Revell slotting home from the penalty spot after a handball.

NSW Sapphires ran away with the game to record a 5-1 win over rivals Northern NSW Pride after a 1-1 deadlock at half-time. Northern created numerous good chances, with Katie Gill unlucky not to score more than the one.

But it was the Sapphires who then seemed to strike with almost every chance in the second half. Taryn Rockall retained her leading goalscorer tag after scoring another double, whilst Kelly Golebiowski also chimed in with a pair.

Adelaide were the one team to improve their position on the points ladder after Round 3 action, moving to outright third place behind Queensland Sting and NSW Sapphires.

Adelaide Sensation scored a valuable 2-0 victory over the luckless Canberra Eclipse, Jessica Halfpenny setting up the win by stealing a back pass and scoring after just 24 seconds. Eclipse then dominated possession for the majority of the game but lacked strikepower in front of goal. Against the run of play, Adelaide scored their second midway through the second half, Halfpenny this time finishing off a fine through ball.
