Queensland Sting are assured of first place and a berth in
the WNSL grandfinal with one round still remaining after comprehensively winning the top
of the table clash against NSW Sapphires.
Queensland proved far too strong for the patchy NSW in the opening match of the day, winning 3-1 after the scores were locked at one apiece after just 11 minutes. Jamara Maza opened for the Sting in spectacular fashion after just 3 minutes, nailing a Zoe Nolan ball from deep with a first-time side volley into the roof of the net. But the Sapphires won the ball near goal soon after, leaving the unmarked Justine McLaughlin with a simple shot home. The in-form Sting regained the lead in the 26th minute, April Mann following up after a blocked Maza shot, and five minutes later, Kim Revell converted from the penalty spot.

An upset win to the Vics keeps them in the semifinals race
alongside three other teams with one round to go. Victoria Vision emerged 1-0 winners from
a hard-fought battle against Adelaide Sensation. Adelaide created the opportunities in the
first half, but the two sides went in at the break scoreless.
With Vision starting to edge their way more into the play, Adelaide's Marie Spagnoletti then came closest with her header against the crossbar. But Vision scored what became the winning goal in the 68th minute, defender Louisa Bisby sweetly curling her 24 metre freekick into the top of goal.

Northern NSW Pride struck some good form against the Canberra
Eclipse, creating plenty of chances and finishing with a 3-1 victory. Rose Dunne scored
her debut WNSL goal, giving Pride an 11th minute lead. Lanky Katie Gill doubled
the advantage, beating two defenders before striking from 15 metres.
Two minutes into the second half, Tara McMinn blasted a cracking drive from distance for Northern's third to seal the win. Eclipse's Amy Taylor scored a consolation goal six minutes from time, a neat lob over the keeper from the right sideline.
