Queensland Sting soundly defeated last-placed Victoria Vision 3-0 in Toowoomba with a dominant performance throughout.

After several near misses, Queensland took the lead five minutes before halftime, Toowoomba local Lana Harch fittingly opening the 'maroon' account, on the end of a corner kick.

Sting scored another three minutes into the second half, a well-hit shot fumbled by the Victorian keeper allowing Jessica Mitchell to slot home the crumbs. Despite the goal, Vision settled into their game better but still had only a rare chance in attack. Queensland finished off the job with a third goal in the dying minutes, a corner falling for Bryony Duus whose attempt was touched into goal by teammate Pam Grant.

SW Sapphires suffered a less than ideal lead-in to next week's grandfinal, going down 5-4 to rivals Northern NSW Pride in Newcastle. NSW sped to a two goal lead within the opening three minutes, but by half-time Northern had reeled in their opponents to be level at 3-3. Two second half goals to Pride then turned the game on its head and the home side had a thrilling victory in their sights.

The Sapphires shot out from the blocks with a first-minute goal to Catherine Cannuli after a defensive mixup, on target with a long-range cracker from the left side. Another defensive mishap allowed NSW a second goal just two minutes later, Michelle Carney in with the easy tap-in.

The poor start however only seemed to steel Northern's determination, and they pulled a goal back in the 18th minute, a fantastic build-up seeing Lorissa Stevens set up Lauren Colthorpe on the edge of the 6-yard box. Five minutes later, NSW snatched back their two-goal advantage when Nicole Kimber converted a long Jo Burgess cross.

But the very next minute, Pride hit back again, Rose Dunne successful from distance to take the score to 2-3. Then with two minutes before the break, Northern levelled, sending a shellshocked Sapphires back into the dressing rooms. A freekick played in behind the NSW defence saw Ashley Wilson finish in clinical style.

A fired-up Northern came out in attack in the second half and were rewarded in the 70th minute with an Amber Neilson rocket from the edge of the 18-yard box to send the home team into the lead for the first time in the clash. Five minutes later, they increased the lead to 5-3 with a Stevens bullet from 20 metres. NSW scored in stoppage time with a Kylie Ledbrook finish from close range, but Northern held out to celebrate the 5-4 win.

Canberra Eclipse, reigning champions, bounced back from their disappointment of missing a grandfinal berth to secure third place ahead of their opponent by beating Adelaide Sensation 2-0. Canberra made better use of possession and could have won by more although the first half was lacking in highlights. Adelaide created few clear chances on goal against a solid opponent.

Eclipse took the lead shortly before the break when awarded a penalty kick. Adelaide keeper Leanne Trimboli saved Tal Karp's spot kick but the midfielder scored by following up on the loose rebound.

Canberra continued to attack in the second half led by the exploits of Sacha Wainwright up the left flank and were rewarded in the 59th minute with a goal to seal the win. Kristyn Swaffer's floated freekick was neatly controlled by Peita-Claire Hepperlin and finished with the outside of the foot.
