The Kiwis came to visit Australia ahead of hosting the World Cup... which we are not at. Just rubbing our noses in it. Bastards. Anyway this is the first of four matches involving the U17's of NZ, Australia and the Aussie U20 womens team. We suspect they were all training matches, but they all got played and that's the main thing. This was a Friendly match.

So there's a date, there's two teams, but no result. How can this be? Well we can't find much mention of the result but we haven't given up just yet. This was a Training match.

These girls might be young but they're pretty ruthless. I love it. What I love less is that according to the AFC matchreport the Singaporeans fielded 2 goalkeepers. Now first of all it didn't seem to help them much and second I doubt that the referee would have let that go unnoticed. So either Nadirah Farid did play, but not as the keeper, or she is listed incorrectly and Azman or Suhaimi are more likely candidates. Also the Singaporean names overall seem difficult to discern some seem in surname firstname format and others in reverse. I've listed them as they appeared in the report. This was a Asian Championship Qualification match.

Looks like the Burmese (Myanmaris?) took notes and decided it was important to defend. Also seems Gary isn't afraid to tinker with a winning combination with a significantly changed lineup only Foord's absence was through injury. It's always the star forward who is made of glass isn't it. This was a Asian Championship Qualification match.

With this game Australia ensured qualification was in the bag. I'm sure the game cheered the Singaporeans up no end too... Another discrepancy here is between the FFA who says Gibbons scored the 54th minute goal and the AFC who say it was Whitfield. Perhaps the playing numbers (28 and 20 respectively) confused the referee or some other error. Though inclined to believe the FFA the data here reflects the AFC report. 43 goals for none against, even China didn't qualify this emphatically (though to be fair the other group had only 4 teams, not 5 and therefore one less match per team). This was a Asian Championship Qualification match.
