The Australian Soccer Football Association will meet on January 28 to complete arrangements for an international team to tour South Africa this year. Tentative arrangements are that 22 games will be played and the Australian party, consisting of 17 players, two managers and a trainer.
The Australian Soccer team to tour South Africa will travel on the Arawa, which is expected to sail from Sydney about April 12. The party will consist of 16 players, two managers, and a trainer. Because of the early departure, the team will have to be chosen on form shown last season.
Soccer observers believe that Australia could send only a weak team to South Africa if the tour eventuates. The team would probably lack such players as the internationals W. Wilson, F. Parker, R. Laurie, and H. Parkes. J. Marston will be in England. Ron. Hughes and Gordon Nunn are also doubtful. Most players would have difficulty obtaining leave of absence from work and are worried by the consequent loss of wages. Some players say they will lost nearly seven pounds per week. The Australian tours' committees will meet in Sydney next Saturday to discuss these matters. Many Soccer club officials in N.S.W. are not enthusiastic about the proposed tour.
